Puttenham Barn Bunkhouse offers simple overnight accommodation in south-east England in surroundings superb for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
Our Barn provides reasonably priced wardened accommodation for up to 11 visitors - similar to, but more basic than a Youth Hostel. It inspires an imaginative vision with a strong environmental emphasis. It is run entirely by volunteers.
We are located in west Surrey on the North Downs Way and Sustrans cycle route 22 between Guildford and Farnham, at a point not served by any Youth Hostels.
Booking is essential; refer to the Book page for more details.

Our wonderful old listed building has been sympathetically restored to be environmentally friendly. We have rainwater harvesting, solar electricity and solar hot water. The restoration we have carried out enables you to see traditional and sustainable construction methods. A lockable cycle storage shed is available - designed by cyclists for cyclists! In addition to the sleeping area there is also a communal kitchen and a shower-room. The barn does its best to cater for people with disabilities.
Despite its age, our barn is fully equipped with fire warning and emergency lighting systems, and these are regularly inspected for correct operation. Electrical appliances are regularly tested for safety.
This is our communal kitchen, with full cooking facilities provided.
Project Oasis North Downs is a registered charity originally set up to achieve this ambitious project. The charity's role now has progressed into one of operating as a bunkhouse and maintaining the barn into the future. Please help by becoming a supporter of POND, or by donating money, time or skills in one of the many ways that you could help.
